On May 2-4, 2008, we gathered once again to celebrate the legacy of Bobby Darin. Our goals for the event were to appreciate his music and memories, to promote his extraordinary work and talents and to respect his wish to help people in need.

Because Darin helped others through his dedication to the American Heart Association and because of his profound connection to Las Vegas, we decided to raise money in Bobby Darin's name for a donation to Children’s Heart Foundation of Nevada. Children’s Heart Foundation was founded in 2001 through the compassionate efforts of local pediatric cardiologists and concerned families of children with heart problems. The foundation is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children with heart conditions. They strive to provide a carefree camp experience to those children. They also educate healthcare professionals and the general public on pediatric cardiology issues and lend support to families as they deal with the emotional and financial toll exacted by a child’s heart problems.

The Darin Lifetime Event 2008 included two auctions, two raffles and great guest speakers such as Gary Walden, Bob Rozario, Billy McCubbin, Terry Kellman and Jimmy Scalia. We were entertained by the sweet musical performance of "The Scalia Boys+One" (Jimmy's boys and Joanne Romeo), with exciting videos from Darin’s friends and family and by a breathtaking tribute concert that was conducted by Billy McCubbin and Terry Kellman which featured TJ Keunster, Jimmy Walker, The Fat City Horns, Ray Quattrone, Gene Seronin and The Happy Hoofers.

While enjoying the company and eventful attractions, the amount we raised reached $10,583.00 over the weekend ... No one expected what Darin Fans could do! Raffle tickets were sold for total of $2,940, and the winners' prizes were Darin’s tie and shirt donated by Gary Walden, autographed books, Darin’s records and Flair cologne. The rest of the funds were raised by a silent and a live auction. The items auctioned off were Darin’s leather bound movie scripts and original sheet music (donated by Dodd Darin), specially designed jewelry, various CD's & LP's, photo books and so forth.

We were very pleased with our accomplishments. We believe that our acts may be small but feel that these certain steps will keep spreading Bobby's legacy throughout the world. We will continue to inherit Darin’s spirit as long as we live. A huge thank you to every single fan and friend who participated in and contributed to our event. DARIN FANS ROCK!!!
